There's little room for Christmas jollity when you have several series' worth of stories to complete. So how did the Doctor do?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This year's Christmas Doctor Who was never going to pause and sniff the mulled wine. There are stories that need completing, fireworks to set up; the End of Time means No End of Plot. We've had the Ood – I find them harder to take seriously since seeing the cover of Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, but maybe that's just me – prophesying doom. We've had a ghostly Claire Bloom talking in riddles to Bernard Cribbins. We've had the Doctor facing up to death with enough fear in his eyes to make you almost forget about them filming his next incarnation. We've had one very sinister close-up of Timothy Dalton. Most of all, we've had John Simm's Master, brought most of the way back to life with unpredictable new powers and an appetite that has him more or less literally chewing the scenery. And that's before he turns every human on Earth into a copy of himself. It's been a rush.

Mich. Muslims join Jews for Christmas Day Mitzvah

DETROIT — Many Jews consider Christmas Day an opportunity to serve their community while Christian neighbors celebrate their holiday. This year, what's also known as Mitzvah Day in southeast Michigan is getting an added boost from Muslims.

For the first time, about 40 Muslims are expected to join 900 Jews for what they call their largest annual day of volunteering. Leaders say it's a small but significant step in defusing tensions and promoting good will between the religions – particularly on a day that is sacred to Christianity, the third Abrahamic faith.

Mitzvah Day, a nearly 20-year tradition in the Detroit area also practiced in other communities, is so named because Mitzvah means "commandment" in Hebrew and is generally translated as a good deed.

Considering the news we got yesterday about that flight from Amsterdam I thought this would bring a little cheer back into the holidays. I think it's great idea for the two faiths to come together during the season and do charity work. I just wonder if there is a day all three of the faiths can come together on.

Thoughts?

Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively is set to star in the new comic book superhero movie, Green Lantern.

The 22-year-old blonde star is being lined-up to play the love interest of the main character Hal Jordan - who is played by Ryan Reynolds.

However, Blake reportedly faces stiff competition for the part as Jennifer Garner, Diane Kruger and Eva Green are also in the running.

A source said: "Blake would be amazing in this role. She has a busy 2010 promoting The Town, but she would love to play a part in a superhero film."

Green Lantern tells the story of Hal Jordan, an ordinary man chosen by an alien to receive an energy ring that can be used to protect the planet.

Filming is due to begin in 2010, with a rumoured summer 2011 release date.

Martin Cambell, who previously worked on Casino Royale, is to direct the movie, leading some to speculate that former Bond girl Eva may be his choice for the role.

I don't know how reliable the source is, but if this is true, good for her.

small/petite girls!

WHERE do you buy your clothes! I've recently turned 20 and feel like updating my look a bit, but I have theeee hardest time finding clothes that actually fit me, that aren't expensive, and don't look juvenile. I am 5'5 and about 100lbs which puts me barely fitting into the smallest size at most stores. It sucks having to get EVERYTHING altered so it would be nice to find a few things that fit me right off the rack. Things I have been particularly looking for are dresses and a fitted blazer. TIA!
